As a society evolves and changes, so will the educational curriculum.  Individuals within specific communities, cities, or countries determine how education promotes their standards of living; therefore, the theoretical perspectives of the educational curriculum varies as a result.  However, schools within a state, providence, or nation have to address the needs of all learners while meeting the aims, goals, and objectives of their school districts.  Educators within the past 100 years have grappled with theories and concepts that would promote learning while creating well balanced societies that consist of multicultural groups.

"Ideal teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross, then having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own." -- Nikos Kazantzakis
